Hands on the neck from physical tension due to chronic stress, anxiety and burnout

Stress & Stress

Stress is a normal physical and psychological response of the body to demands, changes or situations that are perceived as stressful. Anxiety refers to the experience of worry, fear or anticipation and can occur without immediate threat or persist even after the stressful condition has passed.

Anxiety and stress are not always indicative of a disorder. However, when increased arousal becomes persistent or disproportionate to the circumstances, it can affect sleep, concentration, emotional regulation, and daily functioning.

The functional image may include:

  • Persistent worry , fear, or a sense of threat

  • Hypervigilance, physical tension, or difficulty relaxing

  • Episodes of intense fear or panic

  • Irritability or intense emotional reactions

  • Changes in sleep or recovery ability

  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions

  • Avoiding situations associated with fear or tension

  • Mental & physical fatigue

The presence of isolated events does not necessarily indicate an anxiety disorder. They are evaluated in relation to their duration, intensity, the circumstances in which they occur & their impact on daily functioning. When they are intense or persistent, or include panic episodes, evaluation by an appropriate health professional is required.

The contribution of qEEG Brain Mapping & EEG Neurofeedback

qEEG Brain Mapping does not directly measure anxiety or stress, does not determine its cause & does not function as a standalone diagnostic tool. It records & analyzes the electrical activity of the brain, providing data on its function, which is taken into account with the history & overall picture of each individual.

During EEG Neurofeedback, the brain receives real-time visual & auditory feedback, which changes depending on its electrical activity. Training can focus on functions related to the regulation of wakefulness, maintenance of attention & transition from increased arousal to relaxation & recovery.

The program is designed individually, based on the qEEG Brain Mapping data, the history & functional profile of each individual. EEG Neurofeedback can be integrated into a broader support framework & does not replace psychological or psychiatric evaluation, psychotherapy, medical monitoring or medication, when these are indicated.

With the aim of:

  • Supporting self-regulation in conditions of increased tension

  • Improving the ability to regulate alertness

  • Easier recovery after pressure or stressful conditions

  • Support concentration & decision -making under pressure

  • Limiting the impact of increased arousal on sleep & recovery capacity

  • Limiting the impact of anxiety & stress on daily functioning
