Neurofeedback / NFB
It entails:
- Personalized training program based onMapping brain qEEG.
During the session:
- Detected, recorded, analyzed & the electrical brain load.
- Possibility of training either at one point or at more than one points simultaneously in real time (Z-Score).

From qEEG Brain Mapping to the personalized program
At the Athens Neurotraining Center, qEEG Brain Mapping is performed before the start of EEG Neurofeedback.
qEEG data is taken into account with:
-
The individual history
-
Daily functionality
-
The functions that present difficulty
-
The demands of everyday life
-
The individualized goals of education
qEEG does not automatically generate a ready-made protocol. Its data is analyzed & utilized to select recording sites, EEG parameters, type of feedback & form of training that corresponds to the individual's functional profile.
The program is monitored throughout the sessions & can be adjusted based on recorded data & the individual's response.
EEG training formats
Surface EEG training
The feedback is based on selected features of brain activity recorded from one or more locations on the scalp.
Training parameters are determined individually based on qEEG data & functional goals.
Real-time z-score training
During Z-score training, multiple EEG parameters are calculated in real time & compared to reference values corresponding to the individual's age.
The feedback changes depending on the relationship of the selected measurements to the specified reference ranges.
The Z-score is not a diagnosis & does not mean that every deviation corresponds to a disorder. It is a way of organizing feedback based on quantitative data.
Training more channels is not automatically more appropriate or effective. The choice of training format depends on the qEEG, functional profile & goals of each individual.
With the aim
-
Setting the activation level
-
Strengthening the ability to maintain attention
-
Supporting mental endurance under increased demands
-
Better management of emotional & physical tension
-
Easier transition from activation to recovery
-
Supporting daily functionality
Goals are set individually & are not the same for everyone.
Duration & monitoring of training
EEG Neurofeedback is a learning process & response varies between individuals. The number, frequency & duration of sessions are determined based on the initial functional profile, goals & training progress.
Progress is monitored through session data, functional changes reported by the individual & reassessment of goals. When indicated, a repeat qEEG can be performed under corresponding recording conditions, in order to obtain a Comparison Report between the initial & subsequent measurement.
There is no specific number of sessions that guarantees the same result for everyone.
What EEG Neurofeedback is not
EEG Neurofeedback:
-
It does not read thoughts, memories, or personality traits.
-
It does not send current or electromagnetic stimulation to the brain.
-
It is not a passive form of brain stimulation
-
Does not provide a diagnosis
-
It does not by itself identify the cause of a set of difficulties
-
It does not promise a cure or a predetermined outcome.
-
It does not replace medical, psychological or other specialized care, when required.
In cases that are already part of a medical or therapeutic context, training is carried out in a complementary manner & in collaboration with the individual's treating professionals.
