Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition associated with differences in communication & social interaction, as well as restricted or repetitive patterns of behavior, interests or activities.
The term "spectrum" captures the great heterogeneity in the characteristics, abilities & support needs of each individual. The picture is not the same for everyone & can change throughout life.
The functional image may include:
-
Differences in verbal or non-verbal communication
-
Difficulty initiating, responding to, or maintaining social interaction & interpreting social cues
-
Need for predictability & difficulty in transitions
-
Repetitive patterns of behavior or intensely focused interests
-
Increased or decreased response to sensory stimuli
At the same time, difficulties in attention, sleep, or emotional regulation may coexist, which are assessed separately from the core characteristics of ASD.
The contribution of qEEG Brain Mapping & EEG Neurofeedback
qEEG Brain Mapping is not a stand-alone diagnostic tool for ASD, it does not confirm or exclude the diagnosis & does not determine the individual's support needs. Diagnosis is based on specialized developmental & clinical assessment.
qEEG Brain Mapping records & analyzes the electrical activity of the brain, providing data on its function, which is taken into account with the history & overall picture of each individual.
During EEG Neurofeedback, the brain receives real-time visual & auditory feedback, which changes according to its electrical activity. Its application does not focus on ASD per se, but on specific coexisting difficulties, such as regulating wakefulness, maintaining attention & managing emotional intensity.
The program is designed individually, based on the qEEG Brain Mapping data, the history, age & functional profile of each individual. EEG Neurofeedback can be integrated complementary into a broader interdisciplinary support framework & does not replace developmental, medical or psychological monitoring nor appropriate interventions in communication, learning & everyday skills.
With the aim of:
Strengthening the ability to maintain attention
Optimization of the ability to regulate alertness & emotional intensity
Supporting mental resilience to the demands of everyday life
Limiting the impact of coexisting difficulties on daily functioning
